Joe and I are in Burnsville, North Carolina, once again. One of our favorite things to do when we are here is to sit on the porch early in the morning and drink our coffee. It's a family affair as Buster and Chloe sit with us. They like to sit and look just like we do. Today as we sat on the porch we enjoyed watching the birds at the bird feeder. During the time it took us to drink our coffee, feel the cool breeze, and talk about our plans for the day, we saw a Robin, a pair of Cardinals, several Goldfinches, a Crested Titmouse, a Carolina Chickadee, and several doves. We also had the pleasure of spotting a couple of rabbits out for breakfast in our front yard. Oh how we love the mountains!

Peanut

My name is Peanut
and I was as lonely as could be
I was praying that
someone would come rescue me.
Michele and Adrian have taken me in
they got rid of all my fleas
now I'm healthy,
so adopt me please.
They found me out in Bush
some girl had left me there
she drove off without even a care.
I'm very well behaved
I don't bite or bark much
I just need someone
to love me a bunch.
I listen to Michele and Adrian
and come when they call
but they haven't taught me any tricks
or how to chase a ball.
So once again
I say to you
please adopt me
I promise not to chew.
You can change my name
to whatever you choose
if you take me in
you sure can't lose.

Bush Bash 2007 (Under Construction)

The people came
100 plus
to the 7th Annual Bush Bash
to celebrate with us.
Everyone arrived
with food in hand
When the table was set
It really looked GRAND!
The cooks for the day
Were busy as bees
They enjoyed barbecuing
under the trees.
Reggie was drinking Coronas
He drank for Pat and Mel
By the time lunch was served
he was feeling mighty swell!
Soon after lunch
We began to look around
Where was Reggie
he couldn't be found!
Swimming in the pond
Sure looked cool
But I would have chosen the swimming pool.
Jumping off the bridge
One by one
The kids were having
so much fun
The adults played some games.
While they drank their beer
With each good play
oh how they would cheer.
Playing Cajun Horseshoes
was quite a lot of fun
until I lost the game
when I went over by one.

Paul Turns Forty
Another great party at Steve and Nita Liggio's house. The occasion for this party was Paul's 40th birthday. What was supposed to be "Poker Night" turned into a celebration of life.
When I first met Paul he was in college. Boy do I feel old!
It was great fun. After Paul opened gifts which included a lot of Crown, Steve read a poem that he had written. It was very enlightening to both his mom and dad.
Good food, good friends, and good fun. For those of you that didn't make it, you missed a good time. Enjoy these pictures.
