In the town of Ain Karem, close to Jerusalem, lies the church of the birth place of St. John the Baptist, who was born to aged parents, Zachariah and his wife St. Elisabeth, a cousin of Mary. Pictured above is of the most revered site in the church, the grotto believed to be part of the home in which John the Baptist was born. It is believed by many to be the exact spot of his birth.
